2:38 pm - Ah, life!
So, I move into Agnes Scott a week from Friday! I can't wait. I got an e-mail this morning from my Scottie Sister and she's a Theatre major who seems pretty awesome and helpful. I've also been talking to my roommate a lot via Facebook and she sounds appropriately sarcastic and fun. We should get along well. I set away clothes that I will absolutely never wear again this morning as well as filled a shoebox with little bits of sentimentality that no dorm room would be complete without. Oh! And I made a stack of the books I want to take. Curiously, they all have something to do with Shakespeare...

Anybody think of anything that I probably wouldn't think to bring with, but definitely should?

1:50 pm - Finally!
Yay Haley and Elan! I can die happy now.

I don't know why I'm thinking about this, but I thought I'd throw it out there. It has recently occurred to me that I really hate running and that, in college, when I no longer have my mom to coax me along, I'm not going to run unless something's chasing me. But I still want to be in shape. Does anybody have any suggestions for some alternative fitness activities? I want some ideas now so that I can get on it as soon as college starts. By the way, if anyone from Agnes Scott is in the audience, feel free to accept me any day now... *grumble grumble*

Three day weekend! Enjoy it, my lovelies.

1:15 pm - Renewed determination!
I just got home from helping teachers move into the new building. Points of interest: 1) Due to my class schedule, I go from the old building to the third floor of the new building to the theatre to the second floor to the faraway computer labs of the old building back up to the second floor. I am going to be so in shape!
2) The new theatre is GLORIOUS. I skipped after I saw it.
3) I'm pretty sure there's only one stairwell. Not sure how that's going to work, but then, what do I know?
4) Hoppy's room looks mighty swell now that Arden and I have organized book shelves and put up bulletin boards.

AND. I totally made a 90 on the EOCT, so I escaped Econ with a 75! I have never felt so relieved.

So! With this new bright outlook upon the new year, I am off to try again to conquer the demon iPod shuffle.

12:11 am - Happy New Year!
So, I'm sitting here bawling and I feel like doing the same end o' year survey that everyone's doing.

1. What did you do in 2006 that you'd never done before?
Been flogged, been assailed by tomatoes, been knighted, went to GHP.

2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I resolved to do things to make me happy. I think I was pretty successful. This year I just resolve to be a better friend and to try not to suck.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Valdosta and Newcastle.

6. What would you like to have in 2007 that you lacked in 2006?

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

GARF [I don't think I've ever been so hyped up]

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Brobdingnagian Bards - Fairy Story
Gary Jules - Mad World
The Rocky Horror Picture Show - Time Warp
BtVS: Once More, With Feeling - I'm Under Your Spell // I'll Never Tell

I'm sort of lame and don't pay much attention.

37. Whom did you miss?
Wow, let's see: Jarred, Crystal, Jeff, Kelsie, Emma, Kristen, Matt, Michael, Hampton, April, Ross, anyone from GHP?

38. Who was the best new person you met?
I could never pick just one.

39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2006:
Look for a bench before you implore patrons to dangerously attempt to remove your wooden sword from a tree. Thanks, Chaz!

40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
You must remember this
A kiss is still a kiss
A sigh is still a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by

As Time Goes By- Casablanca

4:15 pm - Happiness!
Well, just like last year, all it took was seeing "A Christmas Carol" at the Shakespeare Tavern to really put me in the holiday spirit. I was grinning from ear to ear the entire time [except, of course, when Tiny Tim is dead =(] And the copy of "The Two Noble Kinsmen" that Ms. Marlin and I ordered came in so I can now begin memorizing monologues for the SIT audition. Anyway! Becky, you were wonderful last night!

And yay for Haley and Elan! =D Although, talk about your cliffhangers...

A very Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all of you!

4:39 pm - Perimeter? I think not, sir!
Final Finals Pt. 2

Acting- Um, duh.

Econ- Actually, the EOCT was a smidge harder than I'd anticipated [what with the crazy easy practice exam I took], but I think I pulled off what I needed in order to get a C in the class.

After hanging out with the lovely Vandy/Carmanda this afternoon, I got home only to get a phone call from Brenau University. I got accepted to Brenau! Yay, college! Dani's ego=feeling much better...

3:50 pm - Soph Jamz '06!
So, today has shaped up to be pretty fun. The Stat/Econ quizzes didn't go exceptionally well, but I think I did a good job on my performance final in Lit. I had to write an essay on King Lear and I managed to make connections to The Tempest, so I think the Shakespeare nerdiness shall earn me extra points! Yay, Shakespeare! PLUS! Sophie finally made me a CD of her people music and I love it [not only because she included "Apace" and "Snakes on a Plane"]. And we got a Yoo Hoo at the library after doing Econ homework. Do afternoons get better? I submit that they do NOT.

I'm nearly finished with my short answer essay for Agnes Scott. I'm writing about GARF ["a life changing experience"], but I only get 250 words! I am NOT a concise writer, so the limitation is stressing me out. But, I'll deal. No big.

Everyone's gotten their tickets for "Christmas Carol," right? *wobbly eyes*

8:15 pm - Bah...
We're officially about to enter that last stretch into final exams. And it is NOT going to be a happy time, I fear.

So, I know Chip sent out an e-mail a while back with a similar question, but-- GARF people? Are we in fact having some sort of meeting this month?

Mark your calendars, all! The Lawrenceville Community Theatre's production of "A Christmas Carol" is coming up soon! Opening night is Friday December 8. It will play Friday night, Saturday afternoon, Saturday evening, and Sunday evening for two weeks. Come and see yours truly as the Schoolmaster, the Raucous Lady at Fred's party, and a Caroler. Lots of good holiday fun. Tickets can be purchased at www.lawrencevilleonstage.com. I'd love to see some of you folks out there one night! [Even though I live out in the sticks]

8:11 pm - Embracing my nerdiness...
So, when I was at GHP, I wrote a story for my Observational Humor class. The story detailed how Clay Aiken ruined my life by making me realize that all of the men I fall in love with are gay (obviously, this is a gross overstatement). Now if you haven't read the story, which I was crazy, ueber proud of, you never will since I lost it at a Journalism conference at UGA. Anyway! Back to the point. At the end of said story, I implied that Clay Aiken is probably homosexual and that I would only want platonic, hand-holding love from him anyway.

I TAKE IT ALL BACK!! I LOVE CLAY AIKEN!! About this time for the last couple of years, I've gotten the chance to rediscover the Clay Aiken Christmas album, and it is some kind of wonderful. Say what cruel things you want to about Clay Aiken, but I think he's a perfectly wonderful, talented, intelligent, giving human being [granted, I haven't met him, but I have read his autobiography multiple times]. So, there, world. It may be nerdy that I have a shoes that have "Aiken 4 Clay" scrawled across the toes, but I don't care.

In other news, a movie devoted to dancing penguins has been in theaters for over 24 hours and I've yet to see it. Um, double you tee eff? I'm walking around my house in a penguin t-shirt with a stuffed penguin clutched to my chest as a form of protest.

2:51 pm - New thought...
So, Dani wants to design her own Shakespeare major. Maybe it could be "Renaissance Literature and Drama?" I dunno... I spent all of last night hopping between my copy of the Complete Works and my copy of Harold Bloom's "Shakespeare: Invention of Human," and it occurred to me that that's really all I want to study ever.

current mood: thoughtful

6:49 pm - Purple's a good color for me...
So, I visited Agnes Scott today and I very much adore it. The campus is incredibly gorgeous and the mock Creative Writing class I went to was awesome [I love, love, love the professor]. All of the students that I met seemed very nice and very focused/hard-working. So, I think I'm going to apply for Scholarship Decision in January as opposed to Early Action. I didn't get to actually talk to anyone in their theatre department, but I looked around the Fine Arts building and it seemed pretty fantastic. A few weeks ago, a girl who is a Theatre major in addition to working in the admission's office sent me a postcard with her e-mail address. Methinks I shall e-mail her with my theatre-specific questions...

Plus, they had these little stuffed Scottie dogs wearing purple berets in the Book Store. I was sold on that alone.

Last night, Casis and I volunteered for "Troilus and Cressida" at the Tavern. Once there we met up with a colorful cast of other Mill Creek theatre kids (including some tall, cute, blonde kid... will somebody get me his name? =D) The show itself was a lot of fun. Even though the ending made me a little angry, it was a very well done show (as always) and the actors were awesome (again, as always). It was also the most making out I've seen on the Tavern stage (closely followed by "Midsummer"). The best part of the evening though was talking to Rivka, who offered to write me a recommendation if I ever needed one. I was like, "Wait... you're OFFERING to write me something? But you're Rivka and you're awesome." She said that she very much enjoyed what I did at Festival this year. I was very warm and fuzzy inside.

I went with Sophie to get my hair cut after school yesterday. It's still the same length, but now it's parted on the side with longish bangs. It's a fun change.

And in other news, I am SO. SLEEPY.

Oh! And Lisa didn't bite my head off about rehearsal today. Huzzah!

3:16 pm - I like pie.
Gah... so much to do, so little time! Agnes Scott's early decision application is due next Wednesday. I'm nearly finished, but I'm going to wait until I visit the campus on Saturday before I send it out [as the early decision is binding if I get accepted]. Of course with Econ going the way it has, it's very up in the air as to whether or not I'll get in... We'll see.

Andrew and the preppy girls on the Christmas Carol cast want to turn me into their new "project" and beautify me. I felt very Elphaba about the entire scenario... I don't understand why everyone in this production thinks I'm so masculine! *frustration*

current mood: tired

5:51 pm - I feel there's something in the wind...
Jeff, you'll appreciate this. My gay husband in "Christmas Carol" will NOT LET GO OF MY HAND ONSTAGE EVER. We're not even specifically "together" in the script, we're just tentatively paired up for the sake of their being couples at Fred's party. It's beginning to drive me crazy, especially since his hands are sweaty. He's only intent on touching me at all times, because he's under the impression that it will terribly impress the directors and will get him cast in better roles in future shows. ... Either way, it makes me laugh.

So... last night was Vandy's annual Halloween soiree. I was a little late since I was volunteering at Freeman's Mill's Autumn Jamboree for Beta Club hours [aka I was catching little kids diving out of the inflatable obstacle course onto the concrete gym floor; I don't think I breathed once all night.] The party was pretty fabulous, as always. During Truth or Dare Jenga, I ended up giving Chad a lap dance to "Sweet Transvestite." His face was priceless. It was awesome, awesome, awesome.

And I actually got to use the phrase, "Truth or truth? You're a little sweet on me, aren't you?" And my answer was, "Yes." Dani=elated.

Now, I'm off to Andrew's Halloween bash of doom! He hasn't shut up about it since September, so it should be pretty exciting. Dress for the occasion is "gothically decadent." Ka. Chow.

5:04 pm - Le sigh...
So, this week has definitely been an interesting one. But I actually get to go to BDSM rehearsal tonight, so yay!

The chorus concert went really well. Unfortunately, there was some bizarre traffic going on and I ended up being a little late for our call. I was really frustrated about that, since it was my first concert and I really wanted to make a good impression. Being late is definitely not typically my style. But! The concert itself was awesome. "Go 'Way From My Window" was sho pretty. I'm such a sap; I almost cried after Holly's solo in "Georgia On My Mind." Her voice is just so awesome! And Carmanda and Casis came to see me and brought me flowers. ^^

One-Act is officially five school days away. I'm freaking out. Our lead actor isn't even off book yet. Overall, I think the show is getting better as the days go on. I don't think it's "good" yet, but... better. Gah... Oh, yeah! And our One-Act time is 4:50 pm next Friday. Awards aren't until 7:45. So, guess who can't go to homecoming with Jarred anymore? That would be Dani. I just found out today in 3rd period and I'm pretty bummed out.

In other boy news... I feel a little like Mrs. Robinson. I'll leave that to your imaginations...

Black Cherry Vanilla Coke is magical!

2:39 pm - Burtongasm!!
Okay, does anyone know if there are any theatres nearby that are going to show The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3-D? I'm going out of my mind with excitement at the prospect.

So, I continue to suck heavily in both Stat and Econ [Econ more so than Stat]. I've officially gotten to the panicky point. I'm going to be ueber mad if one lousy Econ grade keeps me out of the college I want to go to [not that I'm entirely sure where that college is]. I'm going to go into Mr. Jones' room every morning for the rest of the semester for help. Le sigh...

Though... I did win the senior superlative for Female Most Likely to Be Famous. That made me happy. =D

Huzzah, three day weekends!! [Haven't done any of my homework yet, of course]

Casis and I are going to volunteer for "Merchant of Venice" at the Tavern tonight. I'm quite happy since I had to leave early when I saw it last February [it was the weekend of GHP interview/GARF audition]. Heart=Shakespeare.
